The CCB station library is fixed. Per Core Specification §4, every official CCB session uses the same 12 stations in the same order: eight bodyweight stations and four conditioning stations. The category of each station determines how the athlete's result lands during the Work Phase.
The 12-station layout is not configurable. Per Core Spec §3, "Benchmark exercises, station order, rotation, timing, and the Burden Library SHALL NOT change because of attendance, facility, athlete level, coach preference, or competition level." Coaches configure target values and Burden Assignment; they don't redesign the library.
The 8 bodyweight stations
Bodyweight stations are the eight stations that produce countable repetitions. The athlete taps reps on their phone as they complete them. At T=60 (the Freeze), the count locks.
The 8 bodyweight stations, in their canonical order:
- Burpees
- Push-ups
- Air Squats
- Walking Lunges
- Sit-ups
- Mountain Climbers
- Jump Squats
- Jumping Jacks
The four conditioning stations fill slots 3, 6, 9, and 12; everything else is bodyweight.
Burden counts
Per Core Spec §10, the Official Burden Library is the same eight bodyweight movements as the benchmark. Each Burden is exactly half of its Classic target. The Classic baseline values are:

Per-benchmark penalty multipliers scale those baseline values for non-Classic benchmarks (Classic 1.00 / Engine 1.25 / Grinder 1.50 / Storm 1.75 / Inferno 2.00 — so Inferno's Burpees Burden = 10 × 2.00 = 20 reps). Coaches SHALL NOT modify the canonical Library values directly; the only way Burden reps change is via benchmark selection.
Per Core Spec §11, a Burden SHALL NOT be assigned to a station whose benchmark exercise is identical to that Burden. A Burden MAY be reused within a single 12-station Assignment; there is no requirement that each Burden be used exactly once.
The 4 conditioning stations
Per Core Spec §4, the conditioning stations use locked machine models with locked measurement units. The athlete reads the distance (or calorie) reading from the machine console and submits it in the station's official unit at the Freeze.

Per-athlete machine target = Classic per-athlete target × active Athletes at the Station working simultaneously. Reproducibility across facilities and seasons comes from the locked machine models and units, not from requiring a common unit across machines.
Athlete-input mechanic
At T=60 — the Freeze — the athlete reads the result from the machine console and submits it in the station's official unit (meters for the BikeErg, RowErg, and SkiErg; calories for the Echo Bike). The protocol locks the input at the Freeze.
Why submit at the Freeze rather than read live? Per the Platform Spec Freeze design, the Freeze locks all inputs at T=60: the athlete commits to the result at the moment the Work Phase ends. The protocol also gives the room a clean evaluation — every station's result is final, every miss is final, every Burden is final.
Why the two station categories exist
The two categories exist because the room's work isn't a single kind of work. Bodyweight stations produce countable reps. Conditioning stations produce machine readings in the station's official unit. The protocol has to handle both kinds of work cleanly, and the two categories are how it does that.
The category also shapes what the coach sees on the dashboard. Conditioning stations submit at the Freeze with the athlete's console reading. Bodyweight stations accumulate taps during the Work Phase and lock at the Freeze. Both signals feed the Evaluation step and the Decision Point at the end of the round.
What coaches configure (and what they don't)
Per Core Spec §6.1 and §6.2, before Phase 2 (the Grind) starts, coaches can configure:
- The benchmark (Classic / Engine / Grinder / Storm / Inferno)
- Target values in reps or meters
- Format (Solo / Couple / Trio)
- Equipment profile (Standard / Performance)
- Burden Assignment (randomize + adjust)
Coaches SHALL NOT change benchmark exercises, station order, timing, Burden exercises, or Burden reps. The library is the library; the targets and Burden Assignment are the coach's call.
What the library doesn't include
The library is intentionally limited. Per Core Spec §3, benchmark exercises SHALL NOT change because of facility, athlete level, or coach preference. The following movements are not part of Official CCB and are not in the v2 library:
- No barbell or dumbbell movements (no bench press, no squat clean, no deadlift, no KB swings)
- No wall balls, box jumps, pull-ups, or ring rows
- No treadmill, no Assault bike (station 12 is locked to Rogue Echo Bike per §4)
- No timed holds, squat thrusts, or equipment-based exercises (per §10, "Squat Thrusts, timed holds, and equipment-based exercises are not part of the Official Burden Library")
The library is opinionated. Stations get added when the work fits the protocol's structure; not just because the movement exists.
How the library gets updated
Per Core Spec §10, "Burden counts and the Burden Library MAY be revised by a future versioned benchmark release; the v1 canonical is the eight movements above." Library updates ship as versioned benchmark releases, and historical results reference the exact benchmark version used.
