Results and Evaluation
How bodyweight and conditioning results are reported, confirmed, and evaluated against the target.
Two kinds of results
CCB captures two kinds of results during a Work Phase:
- Bodyweight results. The number of reps completed at a bodyweight station. Each rep is counted once. A half-rep does not count.
- Conditioning results. The distance reached on a conditioning machine, in the station's official unit (meters). The athlete reads the value from the machine console at the Freeze.
The two kinds exist because the two categories of station use different inputs. The protocol treats them consistently at the Freeze boundary.
What happens at the Freeze
The Freeze is the minute mark. When the 60-second Work Phase ends:
- The room stops working. Every active station stops at the same moment.
- The local result on each athlete's device locks. No further input is accepted for that Work Phase.
- Athletes confirm their result. A bodyweight athlete confirms the rep count the local counter shows. A conditioning athlete types the distance their machine shows into the same screen.
The Freeze is a deliberate boundary. It separates the Work Phase from the Evaluation step.
Result confirmation
Result confirmation is an explicit action. The athlete must lock in their own result at the Freeze. The platform does not auto-populate a conditioning distance from anywhere other than the athlete's own input.
This matters because:
- the athlete's eyes are the source of truth for what their machine displayed at the Freeze;
- the platform never guesses at a conditioning result;
- a missed confirmation is a missed opportunity, not an inferred default.
For Race Practice specifically, an athlete who arrives at the Freeze with no input has to enter zero (or the actual value) deliberately. The platform never fills the field from a side channel.
What the platform does with the result
After every athlete has confirmed, the protocol sums the per-station total and compares it to the per-station target.
- At or above the target. The station passes.
- Below the target. The station fails for this Work Phase. The protocol publishes the station's assigned Burden for the room to complete.
The sum and the comparison are automatic. They are not subject to coach discretion.
What each audience sees
The three audiences see different views of the same result.
What the athlete sees
The athlete sees the active Burdens for the Work Phase — and, by default, not the failing-station breakdown. The athlete sees the room's situation, not the per-station fingerprint of who was where.
What the coach sees
The coach sees the per-station result, the target, and the Burdens generated for the Work Phase. The coach has the per-station breakdown that the athlete view deliberately leaves out.
What the room sees
The room sees the active Burdens and the next station in the cycle. The room does not see per-athlete details. The collective consequence stays collective.
This split is the no-public-blame default. It is the room's view by design.
Official results vs. self-reported results
CCB has two reporting authorities:
- Official results. Generated under the Group Session or Competition context. They carry the authority of the platform and the Session's governance.
- Self-reported results. Generated under the Race Practice context. They are private training records. They never enter official rankings and they are never Judge-verified.
The exact format and timing are the same. The reporting authority is what differs. The terms are matched deliberately so a reader never confuses the two.
What the documentation deliberately omits
This page is the public explanation. It deliberately leaves out the platform's internal terminology and engineering detail. Those concerns live in the CCB Platform Specification. The plain-language description above is the canonical public explanation.
